Jenna O'Connor

Jenna O’Connor has been teaching violin lessons to children and adults since 2002. She is patient, enthusiastic and has a wealth of teaching experience. Her goal is to develop autonomous learners with good violin technique who play with ease and beautiful tone. Mrs. O’Connor engages young students through games and musical activities. She also teaches adults, as she believes that it is never too late for adults to learn how to play the violin.

Prior to moving to Ottawa, Mrs. O’Connor taught violin at the Orpheus Academy of Music in Austin, TX, and at the Vancouver Academy of Music in Vancouver, BC. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Music degree in Music Education with an emphasis on Suzuki Pedagogy from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

Mrs. O’Connor is a fully certified Suzuki teacher and is committed to life-long professional development. Her experience includes being an adjudicator for the Langley Music Festival and giving clinics in both Canada and in the US.

In addition to teaching, Mrs. O’Connor has played in string quartets, orchestras and has also been involved in multiple singer-songwriter projects.
