
Tianping Chen
A Chinese-Canadian violinist, Tianping Chen began her violin studies at the age of 3 in Shanghai, China, and continued her music studies at Queen’s University School of Music after her immigration to Canada with her family. She maintains an active freelance career in different orchestras including the Kingston Symphony Orchestra, Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber groups across Canada.
In addition, Tianping Chen is also an enthusiastic teacher who is committed to excellence. She is a certified Suzuki teacher (ECE through Suzuki Book 10) and is committed to life-long professional development. Her experience includes being an adjudicator for music Festivals and giving workshops. Her goal is to develop autonomous learners with good violin technique. Her teaching approach centres around playing with ease and with a beautiful tone. Mrs. Tianping creatively engages younger students to learn through motivating games and musical activities. She has also taught many adults. It is never too late to learn. In the past few years, her students have won first place in various competitions and festivals such as the Ottawa Kiwanis Music Festivals, OMFA, and the Canadian Music Festival.
