Maya Farrell
Maya Farrell is from Ottawa and has been playing classical guitar for over fifteen years. She began her studies here at the National Capital Suzuki School of Music. During her 10 years at Suzuki Music, she has performed across Ottawa as a soloist as well as in an ensemble. Maya graduated from the University of Ottawa with her Bachelor of Music in guitar performance, where she studied with guitarist and composer Patrick Roux.
While attending uOttawa, she was twice awarded the Ed Honeywell Scholarship for Classical Guitar. She has performed in festivals such as Guitar Alla Grande and Domaine Forget. She is currently continuing her studies at the Conservatoire de Musique de Gatineau, pursuing an Artist Diploma in guitar performance.
Maya began teaching guitar in 2022 and loves introducing music to students. She enjoys helping them improve by combining their technical and expressive skills.
She completed Unit 1 of Suzuki teacher training with MaryLou Roberts in 2024.
Maya has also studied the piano for several years and completed her RCM Level 8 exam in 2019. Outside of music, she loves to swim and spend time with friends and her golden retriever.
